Flame

The flame flickered
Trying to hold its own
Against the air
Its only foe and friend
For it burned
With the occasional flick
Yet the air remained twitchy
Ending the agony
Swiped the flame off
Leaving wax
The remnant

  5. I love that line: "Against the air/ its only foe and friend". That is the truth of everything- nothing is just one or the other. Everything is both foe and friend. I have always been fascinated by the flame- whether in a candle or during a ritual. It evokes so much.
